The Cala de’ Medici Marina in Rosignano Marittimo is the result of a project started in the early 1980s and then developed first by Impreinvest S.p.A. and then by Teseco S.p.A. in the 1990s up to the final construction completed in 2004-2005.

Acquatecno S.r.l. was appointed first by Impreinvest S.p.A. then by Teseco S.p.A. and finally by Marina Cala de’ Medici, the operational management company, for the final and detailed design of the works, the environmental impact study (one of the first conducted in Italy after the issue of Prime Minister’s Decree 377/1988 and duly approved), marine weather and navigability studies using mathematical modelling, Works Supervision and safety coordination for the maritime works only (representing three quarters of the overall investment).

The tourist port was designed with 650 berths, a boatyard for maintenance only, a Commercial Service Centre, car parks, nautical fuel pump, management offices, control tower, toilets and boat equipment depot.

Considering the difficult exposure of the coastal waters the works include an impressive outer breakwater protected by a mound in concrete artificial blocks of the latest type, low-reflectivity quays built with original systems and patented by the company, comb-shaped wharf and ancillary services.

The facilities include water, electricity and lighting supplies for each berth, sewerage service and Wi-Fi connection.

Roads and parking facilities were dimensioned for the hosting capacity of the Marina and its Commercial Service Centre.
